Camery Development, WELLS CATHEDRAL

We were engaged by our clients to create a new choir practice facility, music library, education and robing rooms and adjoining public toilets within a new construction linked to the East Cloister of Wells Cathedral.

Works commenced with ground clearance and excavation with time taken to record any archaeological finds of such an important historic site, prior to the construction of the new facilities. An oak framed portal arch was formed within walls of natural stone and lime render and the roof was created using indigenous slates and leadwork. An oak framed pentice link was then created to join the new construction to the East Cloister range. Internally beautiful oak detailing was used throughout and finishes added in keeping with the historic surroundings. An energy efficient underfloor heating system was installed and within the choir practice room acoustically sympathetic ceiling and walls created in order to soundproof this area. The project was concluded to a very high specification, beautifully crafted throughout and we were honoured to have been given this opportunity to enhance such a remarkable site.
