Requirements
St Michael’s Church House, built in 1904 and designed by the architect Wallace Gill in an Arts and Crafts style, contains many fine examples of decoration and joinery from that period and is Grade II listed. Our brief was to convert this building sympathetically from its previous use as an office into the Italian restaurant ZaZa. Construction The principal space has become a large dining area and bar for the restaurant, retaining all original features with the addition of a discrete stair to give access to the lower restaurant area, kitchen and WCs. |
Minimal interventions and structural work were required. The window cills on the street elevation were lowered to allow views into the new shop unit created and form the only external change to the building. The remainder of the building was refurbished to bring it up to current standards, including the provision of a state-of-the-art kitchen, customer WCs and disabled facilities.
Value £180,000
