Requirements Our brief was to repair the existing Pavilion building and convert it into a Café for members of the public visiting the National Trust House at Tyntesfield. The new layout would include a servery, both internal and external seating areas and toilet facilities for use by staff and visitors. Construction Works commenced with the removal of the existing roof and then re-covering with a new breathable roof membrane. The existing clay roof tiles were refitted and the roof finished with new cast iron rainwater goods being added which discharge into new soakaways. Internally, parts of the deteriorating masonry structure were rebuilt and repointed as necessary. A new timber clad storeroom was constructed under part of the covered terrace area for use by the Café. |
Two new toilets were constructed within the main building with one complying with the Disability Discrimination Act Regulations and a third toilet was fitted within the existing store building. All existing joinery was repaired or replaced on a like for like basis as necessary and four pairs of timber glazed doors, manufactured in our Joinery Shop, were fitted at the front of the building allowing as much natural light into the Café as possible. New water and electrical services were installed and necessary drainage alterations were undertaken. Two Chesney’s solid fuel stoves were fitted to provide the main source of heating and electric oil filled radiators were installed within the toilet areas. The building was decorated throughout with our client’s chosen colour scheme. The project was completed to the satisfaction of our client and to our high standard of workmanship. Value: £190,790 |
