Requirements
Our clients purchased a former builders yard at Claverton Down in Bath and obtained planning consent to demolish the existing structure and construct a new purpose built office and workshop building to use as their Headquarters. We were contacted by our client and together developed a Design and Build fixed price package to carry out the construction works. Construction The building was erected using traditional foundations with an engineering idea of underpinning the existing 35 metre by 3 metre high stone boundary wall rather than demolishing and rebuilding it as was originally thought necessary. A small steel frame was used to lighten construction in the workshop area. Traditional cavity masonry walls were formed with Ashlar stone to the front elevation and K-Rend render to other areas. |
Roofing works were then undertaken with a mixture of flat roof areas which were covered in Sarnafil roofing with 100mm Celotex insulation and the pitched roofs covered using Marley Domino clay tiles. Internally, services and interior design was tailored to our client’s specific requirements. The staircase was built using Elm wood with stainless steel and glass balustrading and matching contemporary doors were fitted to the circulation areas to give a fresh feel to the building. During construction the original lighting system to the corridor and staircase area was amended to suit our client’s requirements and give uplift in lighting to these areas. The heating installation consisted of a gas fired condensing high efficiently boiler with traditional radiators fitted throughout the building. The project was completed to the satisfaction of our client and to our high standard of workmanship
