Requirements
Our brief was to extend this private residence to provide a grand drawing room and large study to meet the needs of our client. The property is a listed building so all works needed to be carried out within the constraints of a listed site. Construction Initial works commenced on the large extension with foundations being prepared ready for the external walls constructed in natural Bath stone to include a mix of ashlar and rubble with stone mouldings to match the existing building. The roof was then formed and covered in natural Costwold stone roof tiles and lead. Purpose made external joinery using profiles to match the existing was fitted to make the building weatherproof. |
Detailed internal works then commenced with curved ceilings being formed to the drawing room, large fibrous plaster cornices being created and walls plastered and then decorated. Purpose made panelling was fitted to walls and floors covered in English oak. A large working stone fireplace to the drawing room was formed to our client’s requirements. A link from the new extension into the existing house was constructed with stone columns, curved lead roof and large glazed sliding small section aluminium doors.
Externally a Pennant paved area with steps was constructed matching in with the existing hard landscaping to complete the project to the satisfaction of our client and to our high standards of workmanship. 2009 Building Quality Award winner for ‘Works to a Listed Building’. Value £715,000 |
