Requirements
Owing to securing a large distribution contract our client’s required a new 75,000 square foot warehouse to be constructed within the shortest possible timescale to enable them to manage their increased workload effectively. Construction Works commenced on constructing the warehouse which was to be 10 metres in height with the formation of a steel frame. Due to archaeological issues of the site the steel frame was constructed on a raft floor with the toe being cast first to allow the frame to be erected with the floor being poured after cladding was complete. The floor consisted of 2,200 cubic metres of concrete and was laid in 50 metre sections. Externally within the yard areas a further 1,800 cubic metres of concrete was also poured as required. |
The cladding system used was a composite insulated Kingspan system. Internal walls were constructed in Fairfield concrete blocks. Alongside the warehouse a two story office block was constructed in brickwork up to the first floor with cladding above, internal floors were formed using wide span precast concrete. Externally a paved yard area was constructed to complete the building. During the last three weeks of the contract the clients were given access to the warehouse to commence fitting their own racking system so careful liaison between each party was required to ensure the contract continued smoothly. The project was completed within an impressive 22 weeks, to a high standard of workmanship and to the satisfaction of our clients. Value £2.5 million |
