Requirements
Our brief was to carry out the conservation and restoration of a Grade II Listed house sympathetically adding two large extensions, one of which incorporated an in-situ concrete basement structure. In addition to the main house an Oak barn was to be salvaged from the original grounds of the house and re-erected in a new location within the garden. Construction The 58 week contract commenced with the formation of the new basement slab and walls which then enabled the two large extensions to be built using materials to match the original dwelling. Restoration works were then sympathetically undertaken to the existing building fabric. Internally a geothermal heating system was installed and new mechanical and electrical installations carried out. Limestone and Oak floors were fitted throughout with Marble floors, walls and vanity tops being installed within the bathrooms. Bespoke fireplace surrounds were hand carved and fitted within several rooms with hearths and wood burners, jet masters or open fires to suit. The main house was then redecorated throughout to conclude this part of the project. |
A new sub structure was then formed to enable the existing dilapidated oak barn to be moved to a new location within the garden. This building was then fully restored to form a separate living space which incorporated two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, two bathrooms, workshop and three garages.
Externally a completely new sewerage and storm drain system was installed along with a new service infrastructure. A formal walled garden was constructed in hand made brickwork and lime mortar to match the main house. Terraces and paths were laid and a formal pond was built. Finally a new gravel drive was added which finished the project to our high standard of workmanship and to the satisfaction of our client. Value £2.6 million
