Requirements
Our brief was to extend an established Cheshire Home to provide additional five bedrooms with ensuite shower and toilet facilities for people with special needs who are severely disabled as our client required extra facilities to accommodate the increasing demand for this type of facility. Construction The extension was to be constructed to one side of the existing building and before works could commence it was necessary to carry out substantial and quite difficult drainage diversions and alterations to the existing system in order to lay new foundations. Once this work had taken place a ring beam foundation was formed to support the new extension. The walls were then constructed in traditional face brickwork and blockwork. Roofing works were then carried out to match the existing and doors and windows added to make the extension weatherproof. |
Internal works then commenced and a beam and block concrete floor with fibre reinforced top screed which incorporated an underfloor heating system, to be controlled from the existing plant room was formed. Electrical and mechanical systems were then installed. All walls were plastered and then decorated to our client’s requirements. The building was then fitted out to suit the needs of our client and a significant amount of special equipment and finishes were incorporated into the design. These include hoist facilities in all bedrooms and shower areas, automatically operated doors which are faced and edged with easy clean protective surfaces and sanitary ware.
The project was completed to a high standard of workmanship and to the satisfaction of our client. Value: £463,634 |
