Requirements
Our brief was to convert an existing barn into a three storey six bedroom dwelling and to rebuild the old outbuilding into a self contained annex or “bothy” as it was originally known. Being in a very rural location the logistics of the site involved extensive incoming service installations and access arrangements were required with adjoining landowners to ensure a smooth running contract. Construction The conversion of the barn commenced with new floors being excavated, insulated and then concreted. The existing barn walls were in a very good condition but a new roof structure was constructed using slate and plain tiles. New oak external doors and windows were fitted to make the structure sound. The “bothy” followed a similar design to that of the main barn. However a complete rebuild was necessary for this element of the work due to the extreme dilapidation of the existing structure. |
Internal works then commenced with walls being insulated using a stand alone metal frame structure which was drylined after tanking and waterproofing works had taken place. New mechanical, electrical and telephone installations were carried out and underfloor heating was laid to the ground floor. Bespoke fireplaces and joinery were fitted and decorations and finishes were carried out to the highest standards to complete the building to our client’s satisfaction. Externally hard landscaping works were carried out and large retaining walls were constructed. Value £935,000
